Real Eye Transplant

Postby Ejaz Satti » Thu Jul 02, 2015 3:25 pm

Respected Sir,
My eye was damaged in my childhood. And that time my parents brought me to the Al-shifa trust. My right eye was damaged with a needle. At that time it was not much damaged. A slight hole was appeared just out side the black circle. I came to Al-shifa trust and they operated the eye. but after the operation when i discharged and came back to home the right eye started to get smaller day by day and at the end i lost my vision and my eyes also get closed. Now i m 23 years old. i m facing much problems due to that eye. So I want to transplant a real eye instead of my damaged eye. I need you consultancy plzzz. I m so much worried about that.
And I also want to know that whether the vision is possible or not.thnx

The condition you have described is called "PHTHISIS BULBI" in medical language in which the eye becomes small, shrunken and sight less. Although a number of options are available for cosmetic improvement in such eyes but unfortunately vision restoration is usually not possible. However I would still advise you to get a fresh examination done and discuss the possible options with your eye specialist

Well if vision is not possible then what you would suggest that both eyes looks alike. Is there any possibility of the equality of both eyes???
And the transplant of real eye without vision is possible or not????

The transplant of real eye as a whole is so far not successful. It is only the outer coat of eye ball consisting of sclera (the white visible part) and cornea (the round transparent part that appears blue, brown or green depending upon the colour of underlying tissue), which is transplanted. As regards cosmetic improvement by artificial implants, they give acceptable results specially with new materials utilized nowadays. You can search relevant details on internet quite easily

It is difficult to describe in percentage of matching as regards the cosmesis, however in majority of cases good quality prosthetic eyes provide an acceptable cosmetic appearance
