L levator resection surgery

Postby ilyas797 » Wed Aug 31, 2016 2:44 pm

My son, namely Muhammad Hilal undergone subject surgery on 29 Aug 2016. Upon reaching home as desired by nurses I removed the bandage. Now his operated eye doesn't shut completely while sleep as well as while he wishes to do so. Plus he was advised glasses for that eye a week before operation. I am letting him use the glasses.
Please advise me whether iks okay for him to sleep that way or its dangerous for that eye to remain partially open. Is this something which will improve over a few days/week or Doctor is to be consulted urgently.

This can happen after ptosis surgery, although it might spontaneously improve in some cases. You need to keep the eye on frequent lubrication to prevent dryness. Moreover, cover the front part of eye ball with some antibiotic ointment while sleeping. More importantly discuss the issue with your treating doctor / surgeon
